Meet Our Executive Management

Paul Ziff

Paul Ziff, CEO, founded Ziff Energy Group in 1982 and co-led the international expansion of Ziff Energy Group, which is now active in 30 countries (increasing in 2010). He conceptualized the theme of ‘World Asset Types’. Mr. Ziff has three decades of assessment experience for the oil and natural gas industry. A specialist on natural gas industry strategies and upstream corporate performance, Mr. Ziff conceived and directed a wide range of benchmarking studies and consulting projects in upstream corporate performance. Prior, he directed energy research for a major investment firm, gas pricing analysis for a key Alberta government agency, and energy lending analysis for a major bank. Mr. Ziff is an honors graduate of Harvard University, and attended the Université de Paris (Sorbonne) and the Institut d'Études Politiques.

Bill Gwozd

W.P (Bill) Gwozd, P.Eng, Vice President, Gas Services, has 3 decades of natural gas experience.  He prepared and implemented gas supply contractual purchases and gas storage strategies, directed gas control functions for transportation contractual arrangements, and prepared written regulatory applications.  Experience with transportation planning of natural gas liquids pipelines and storage facilities with a leading international integrated producer.  Mr. Gwozd oversees the Natural Gas Retainer Service and consulting practice, focusing on long-term natural gas price outlooks, pipeline acquisitions, regional changes in gas markets, North American gas supply forecasts, and gas development. 
Mr. Gwozd is a frequent guest contributor to various TV stations, radio, newspapers, and magazines.

Juan Carlos Alba

Juan Carlos Alba, Vice President, E&P Services, is the General Management Executive for the E&P Services business unit within Ziff Energy. Mr. Alba has been with Ziff Energy for 8 years and is a member of Ziff Energy’s Executive Committee. Prior to his current position, Mr. Alba was responsible for international business development. Prior to Ziff Energy, he led a niche-consulting firm providing project procurement, materials management, and complex logistics solutions for oil and gas companies in several Latin American countries. With 20+ years of experience in Latin America, Mr. Alba has participated in a variety of oil and gas projects in the region including production optimization projects, pipeline construction, and the upgrade of oil and gas processing facilities. Mr. Alba is experienced in project management, supply chain management, life-cycle-cost analysis, and value engineering. Mr. Alba has a Bachelor degree in Economics and an International Marketing MBA from the University of St. Thomas. In June 2008, Mr. Alba delivered a paper on Benchmarking Production Efficiency and Uptime Reliability at the 19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid.

Richard Tucker

Richard M. Tucker, Vice President, Marketing & Client Relations, is responsible for managing the marketing of Ziff Energy Group's E&P Services in the U.S. and international outside South America. 
He has 28 years experience providing consulting services to the energy industry, both upstream and downstream.  Prior, Mr. Tucker was a Vice President with Petroleum Information Corporation, responsible for managing a number of commercial energy databases.  Earlier, Mr. Tucker consulted to energy clients as Senior Managing Consultant with DRI/McGraw-Hill's Energy/Utility Consulting Practice, Senior Economist-Industry Economics with Evans Economics, and Utility Economist with Chase Econometrics.

Dennell Griffith

Dennell Griffith, Controller, has more than 20 years financial experience in the oil & gas industry.
Her diverse experience encompasses Inventory Controller of O.C.T.G. and drill bits, as well as Traffic Controlling for LPG’s. Ms. Griffith began her financial career with Ziff Energy Group in the year 2000 and was promoted to Controller in 2006. Her current responsibilities are overseeing all financial aspects for the firm, including reporting to the Executive Committee. Ms. Griffith graduated from Mount Royal College with an Advanced Accounting Certificate and was the recipient of the Mount Royal College Part-Time Student Scholarship. As a life-long learner, she continues to pursue management courses.

Gareth Slater

Gareth Slater, Director, Information Systems, has over fifteen years of information systems management & support experience. Mr. Slater has been heading Ziff Energy Group’s Information Systems & Technology department since 1995, and is responsible for overall management of Ziff Energy's global technology infrastructure and corporate data systems. Gareth is also responsible for the design and development of software and database systems for Ziff Energy’s custom benchmarking and data analysis tools, which are used to support numerous projects for clients around the world.
