Our Approach

We provide consulting services to upstream operating companies and the service sector.  Our large and detailed database, and extensive international experience, provides access to information not available from any other consulting firm.  We support E&P companies in their strategic planning initiatives and field operations improvement, and service companies in their business development.

Our E&P consulting is multi-client or customized. Our approach consists of three phases. Phase 1 identifies 'performance gaps', Phase 2 focuses on those specific operating practice areas with the most potential impact to the client's production operating efficiency, and Phase 3 focuses on actionable implementation plans.  This three-phase approach allows for your operation improvement efforts to be focused on those cost areas where changing work practices will have the largest impacts.

BenchmarkingPhase 1:  Reliability & Cost Benchmarking

We perform uptime reliability and cost diagnostic benchmarking analysis to determine the extent of performance 'gaps' by comparing each field's operating performance to similar 'like kind' operations of other leading E&P companies.  The cost analysis is conducted for the full range of detailed cost categories. We also perform a 'Cost Driver' analysis, which provides correlations between certain operating functions/activities and associated costs.  Trends in the data are identified that lead to cost reduction opportunities.  Cost drivers are selected after consultation with the client's field operations professionals.

Phase 2:  Production Efficiency & Best Practices Review

Custom Consulting services - Production Efficiency & Best Practices Review, helps clients improve their field operations by identifying sustainable opportunities for increasing volumes, reducing field operating costs, and reducing environmental impacts.  We believe that the majority of an Operations Management team's time should be spent improving and optimizing the operations. Our most lasting benefit is to help management use the improvement process to establish a self-sustaining continuous improvement operating culture.

Phase 3:  Actionable Implementation

Ziff Energy's Best Operating Practices database offers leading ideas in areas such as automation, electric generation (power), chemicals (scale and corrosion treatment, alliances), sand control, water handling (waterfloods), and gas treatment.  Ziff Energy collaborates closely with the client's Project team to develop actionable implementation plans based upon the recommendations.  We often arrange visits to leader fields that are outstanding in specific operating areas important to the client. The transfer of Best Practices brings significant cash savings benefits to clients, and production gains are also realized as reliability increases.
