Our Approach
We provide consulting services to upstream operating companies and the
service sector. Our large and detailed database, and extensive
international experience, provides access to information not available from any
other consulting firm. We support E&P companies in their strategic
planning initiatives and field operations improvement, and service companies in
their business development.
International work is typically customized and conducted in two phases. Phase
1 identifies 'performance gaps', Phase 2 focuses on those specific practice
areas with the most potential impact to the client's production operating
efficiency. This two-phase approach allows for the Best Practices work to be
focused on those cost areas where changing work practices will have the largest
impact.
Phase 1: Reliability & Cost Benchmarking
We perform cost diagnostic benchmarking analysis to determine the extent of performance
'gaps' by comparing each field's operating performance to similar 'like kind' operations
of other leading E&P companies.
The cost analysis is conducted for the full
range of detailed cost categories. We also perform a 'Cost Driver' analysis,
which provides correlations between certain operating functions/activities and associated
costs. Trends in the data are identified that lead to cost reduction opportunities.
Cost drivers are selected after consultation with the client's field operations
professionals.
Phase 2: Production/Drilling & Completions Efficiency & Best Practices Review
Phase 1 benchmarking diagnostics are used to identify specific cost areas -
typically two or three - which offer the greatest potential for cost savings and
efficiency improvements. Ziff Energy also interviews the client's
operators to determine focus areas based upon their ideas and feedback. We
then conduct a comprehensive review of the client's current practices and
utilize our Best Practices database and extensive staff experience to recommend
appropriate practices that have proven workable and cost containing for other
companies to reduce/eliminate performance gaps.
Phase 3: Improvement Implementation Assistance (Supplementary)
In this phase, Ziff Energy provides continued implementation support to a number
of initiatives developed during Phase 2. In some of these initiatives, Ziff
Energy will act as the project leader, while others as an expert advisor.
