2010 Global Petroleum Show & Conference - June 8-10, 2010

W.P. (Bill) Gwozd, P.Eng., Vice President, Gas Services
"North American Supply & Demand"

While gas prices in 2009 were below the average full cycle cost of finding and producing natural gas, gas demand in North America was healthy and strong enough to support LNG imports from several countries around the world. Will this LNG import trend continue and if so, to what extent? Coupled with double digit North America gas supply basin decline rates, learn which gas basin(s?) is/are growing at low gas prices and concurrently, why gas demand for the world scale Alberta oil sands projects continue to grow with a steady uphill climb. See first hand how new growth from Shale Gas, Tight Gas, and CBM dovetail into the gas supply/demand projections to include gas supply from both Alaska and the Mackenzie Delta over the next decade. This is important to assist in your long range planning and business opportunity development in North America.

Offshore Technology Conference
Offshore Technology Conference - June 2008

Ziff Energy CEO, Paul Ziff was invited to speak on the Active Arena panel at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference, held in Houston in May. Paul’s presentation focused on an Overview of Worldwide Oil Supply & the Growing Role of Angola. Angola’s growth is driven by Deepwater and Ultra-Deepwater operations, displaying an enviable success rate. By 2020 Angola’s oil production will be double 2005 – an impressive accomplishment. In the world context, Paul discussed the many challenges to world oil supply, including political and fiscal instability, high current cost inflation, labor/manpower (with the ‘Big Crew Change’ associated with ‘baby boom’ retirements), Technology (especially Deepwater & North), climate change, field maturity, and operating efficiency/uptime. In spite of these challenges, Paul’s speech ended on a positive note with 2020 world liquids supply up 20% from the 2005 level – to 104 MMBbl/d. Angola will, as a Deepwater leader, provide 5% of the world’s growth.
